Intro to Big Boat Sailing & Racing

This intensive one day course is designed for youth 14 to 24 looking to unlock the art and science of sailing and racing on Big Boats. Whether you are looking to race in your local sailing fleet or be more involved as crew on family cruises, this course will introduce you to the skills needed to be effective crew on a big boat. No experience necessary!

We provide every student a copy of The Annapolis Book of Seamanship and teach crew to work toward the seamanship ethos “The art of sailing, maneuvering, and preserving a ship or a boat in all positions and under all reasonable circumstances.”

Understanding race positions and tactics
Navigation
Up the rig training
Upwind sail trim and maneuvers
Downwind sail trim and maneuvers under Spinnaker
Traditions and superstitions

This is a great opportunity to launch into the sailing world and join a community of sailors who will support you long after you finish your first course.
